The 2019 Epcot International Festival of the Arts celebrates visual, culinary and performing arts from across the globe. In doing so, it reaches to the very heart of the Epcot philosophy. In envisioning Epcot, Walt Disney was inspired by World’s Fairs of the 20th century, and international arts and culture were very much a part of this vision. In this spirit, the World Showcase at Epcot includes the exhibit Gods of the Vikings, an exploration of “cute” culture in Japan, and many more international displays for the whole family to see. The festival runs through February 25th.
- The 2019 Epcot International Festival of the Arts is designed for the whole family to enjoy special entertainment and interactive workshops.
- The festival has philosophical intent that goes back to its founder, Walt Disney, which is still enjoy today and around the world.
- EPCOT or Walt Disney’s Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow was conceived in 1966 and its purpose was to create a city that would be a blueprint for the future.
“Within Walt’s original “planned city” concept was a central, enclosed “downtown,” built around “shops and restaurants that reflect the culture and flavor of locations ’round the world.” Concept art of the era shows the area with representations of individual countries, outfitted with decorative and thematic references to each of the exotic locales.”
